New York is giving New Female artists $500,000 to help their careers
If you’re a woman living in NewYork with a passion for music, then you are in serious luck. The New York mayor’s office is offering a whopping $500,000 to aspiring female artists and professionals who live in the Big Apple.
NYC’s Women Fund for Media Music and Theatre
The NYC’s mayor office of media and entertainment announced that it will be distributing $500,000 worth of grants to females aspiring to break into the music industry. The grants will cover not just artists but for anyone in a profession related to music. This includes producers, Dj’s, engineers, and so forth.
The money will come from the NYC’s Women Fund For Music Media and Theatre. Thus far they have only been allocated funds for theatre and media to the tune of $1.5 million. These music grants are an effort to empower music for and by females in an industry dominated by men.
The Application
There will be 25 $20,000 grants available, $20,000 per project, to be used for new and unreleased project like EP’s, Albums, or Music videos.

To apply you must be an artist who identifies as a female who lives in New York and is currently active in the industry. As a stipulation for the funds, 75% of the money awarded must be used in New York City. So no running to Atlanta.
The funds can be used for things such as equipment, studio time, mixing and mastering, and video production. The applications are now open to the public, you can follow this link to apply and find out more details.
