The Carolinas are heating up, and so is Kaio Kane

The Carolinas are buzzing. By this time next spring I see at least 5 artists making major waves in the industry from the region. Luckily I was able to have a conversation with someone I believe will be among them. His name is Kaio Kane. Before I jump into the interview, however, let’s talk about the Carolina music scene.

Carolina Summer

Da Baby is on fire. His tour is going crazy, and his team “The Reel Goats” a (group of videographers) are capturing every moment of it and turning it into promotional content. Stunna4Vegas is gaining steam and has promised to release the best album of 2019. Renni Rucci has been applying plenty of pressure while a host of other artists like Lil Malik, Blacc Zacc, and Toosii are making moves throughout the state. This year is proving to be the coming out party for Carolina artists. With the attention, these talents and other acts are bringing to the state the doors of opportunity have never been wider.

Enter Kaio Kane

Kaio Kane, a Greensboro native who I’ve been watching for a few months, clearly sees the bigger picture. He’s often spotted rocking the Infinity Gauntlet (which I must remember to ask him about next time!) and dropping some of the hottest music in NC. He released his single ‘Smoke4free’ last month with Stunna4Vegas which is currently sitting at 84K on youtube.

Even with that song doing numbers right now Kane has not let up at all. 2 weeks ago he released visuals for his single ‘Stretch’ and has been dropping snippets consistently on his IG page.

I follow a lot of artists from the NC area and I have to say, he is certainly one of the hardest working rappers from the area. He’s versatile in delivery, sound, and flow and his motors are on TEN right now. I got a chance to speak with him last week and asked him some questions about his life, his journey, and what comes next.

The Interview

Firstly, I want to thank you for taking the time out to speak with me.

From what I can see you’re one of the hardest working artists in the city and have been investing a lot of time into your craft. What keeps you motivated?

“The thing that keeps me motivated is the pressure of failure, and the responsibility of holding down my team and loved ones.”

What artists if any do you look to for inspiration?

“I look to Caskey, Future, Travis Scott, and Stunna4vegas, Da Baby, and Kaio Kane.”

What are your biggest struggles as an independent artist you have faced and what have you done to overcome them?

“My biggest struggle is having to make something out of nothing and being great without much to support yourself personally. All the while remaining artistically creative and motivated to do the impossible. I simply overcome this obstacle by continuously looking in the mirror and trading my fear for opportunity.”

You’ve been releasing a ton of content. Are you working on a project?

“Yes, I am working on a project that’s in the final post-production stages, engineered by myself and produced by myself and short story of Linkz Studios. The project is titled “Kaio Stop Playin”. I named it this because I have always been exceptionally gifted and talented and could accomplish things with the slightest effort, and it’s clear to see how deep the bag of tricks is. I should stop playin’ and make my mark right?”

What is your strategy when you drop a new song?

“My process to making a record is simple any and everything that pops out in my everyday life or even someone else’s, can be turned into substance.. the minute I feel it, or see it, I record it.. for instance, if I catch myself saying something like a phrase too much it should probably be a song.”

What advice would you give other artists who are just getting started

“Invest in a starter kit, a MacBook with protocols and Fl studio a good mic. Some good speakers and interface. Get some Adderall a hard hat and a tool belt pull up YouTube and google and go to work!!”

And lastly is there anyone you would like to shoutout?

“Shout to the homie that found me using my starter kit, shout to linkz studios and my whole support team and fans. Big ups to the Djs that support my brand they know who they are.  And shout out to the homie Stunna4vegas and Dababy.”
