In the African-American community, the barbershop holds a special place. Everything from sports, music, local gossip, and global news is discussed and dissected. Opinions are shifted, perspective is given, and bets are placed. However, off of Merrit Dr in Greensboro, North Carolina, there is a barbershop called The Urban Renaissance. In this barbershop, there is a painted mural, a timeless depiction of black culture and history. This mural inspires many conversations amongst customers. Conversations about black history, black culture. The owner, Tevin Whiteside is a modern day renissance man. He not only hosts a wealth of events for artistic expression but to also uplift the community. For those reasons, we at Thrive Indie decided this would be the perfect venue for the premiere of the ThriveCast.

Meet Thugod

Thugod

In our premiere episode, we had the pleasure of hosting Greensboro native, artist and entrepreneur Thugod. At the time of this writing, Thugod hosts an impressive 67K Instagram followers and has just returned from shooting a music video in Puerto Rico which he expressly invited all in attendance to.

In this episode Thugods talks about his unique journey as an artist, his BarberQ sauce merch, how he makes at least $200 every time he goes live, and how tech has shaped his career and the industry.

EP1

We broke this episode down into two parts. Firstly, we begin with the Thugod interview, the second video is where we actually dive into the topics. For this episode we cover; The Dangers of Cancel Culture, lyrics vs creativity, and how have artists adapted to COVID. Enjoy (:
